Six Galaxy Z Phones in One Year: Samsung's 2027 Foldable Blitz, From TriFold 2 to a Sliding Screen
Tipster TheGalox posted a 2027 Galaxy Z lineup on X listing six devices: Galaxy Z Slide, Galaxy Z TriFold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro, Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Flip 9. PhoneArena called the list the start of a foldable revolution, and Android Authority, Gizmochina, SammyFans and Gagadget followed within days. Samsung normally ships two or three foldables a year.
The Galaxy Z Slide is the outlier. Rather than hinging a panel in half, it rolls a display out of the body. Samsung Display showed a "Mobile Slidable" concept at MWC in Barcelona in March, expanding from 5.1 inches at 16:9 to 6.7 inches at 22:9, at 1080x2640 and 426 ppi. Both Android Authority and Android Central, which saw it in person, note the panel is still labelled "under development."
WebProNews, citing Mashable, reports that research firm Omdia expects the Galaxy Z Slide to carry a 10-inch rollable display — well beyond the 6.7-inch MWC concept. Tech-Insider cautions that a stage demo and a shipping product with a price tag are different things. Patent filings show the mechanics being worked out piece by piece; one describes a single motor that drives both screen expansion and haptic feedback.
Every item above comes from leaks and patents. Samsung's only public statement is that the original Galaxy Z TriFold was a limited-run device, and that it has sold out. SammyFans notes there is no launch date for the TriFold 2 and no detail at all on the other five. Tech-Insider simply marks all six as unconfirmed.
Multiple reports say the TriFold 2 will keep the $2,899 price of its predecessor. Geeky-Gadgets reads that as a deliberate anchor in a small luxury tier. For context, Apple's iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 — $900 less — while the 2026 Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899.99, the Fold 8 Ultra at $2,099.99 and the Flip 8 at $1,199.99.
Memeburn reports that after Apple unveiled the $1,999 iPhone Duo on September 9, Samsung pulled the TriFold 2 forward toward the first quarter of 2027, though not before the end of 2026. The iPhone Duo goes on sale October 23. The leak's own framing is blunt: 2027 will be the biggest foldable lineup Samsung has ever fielded.
The original Galaxy Z TriFold debuted in South Korea on December 12, 2025 and reached the US on January 30, 2026 at $2,899 for 512GB. It unfolds to a 10-inch, 2160x1584 main panel with a 6.5-inch cover screen, runs Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and packs a 5,600mAh battery. Bloomberg reported on March 17, 2026 that Samsung was ending sales roughly three months in; by April it was fully sold out.
Ookla's Speedtest sampling puts foldables at about 1.4% of smartphones in use worldwide — seven years after Samsung shipped the first Galaxy Fold. The same data cuts the other way too: Samsung accounts for 76.2% of foldable samples, eight of the ten most popular foldables are Samsung devices, and the Galaxy Z Fold7 alone is close to a quarter of them.
Omdia's preliminary numbers show global smartphone shipments down 20% year on year in the third quarter of 2026, a steeper drop than the previous quarter. Counterpoint calls it a 14-year low, yet puts Samsung's share at 23%, up from 19% a year earlier, crediting premium pricing and a strong foldable launch. Forbes quotes Samsung saying searches for its foldables rose 300% in a month and Fold 8 demand is up 16% since launch.
Samsung is stacking Ultra, Pro and standard tiers into the Fold line at once. Android Authority expects the Fold 9 Pro to slot between the Fold 9 and the Fold 9 Ultra. Gagadget reads the plan as covering every price point. Gulf News, citing ETNews and Galaxy Club, says Samsung has five foldables in the pipeline for 2027, including a second wide-format Fold, with internal codenames H9 and Q9A.
SammyFans, SammyGuru and Gizmochina all note that earlier reporting pointed to a 2028 launch for the sliding model, and Geeky-Gadgets puts that window in the first half of 2028. So whether six devices really land in 2027 depends less on Samsung's ambition than on whether a rollable panel can be mass-produced. On the leak's own ordering, the TriFold 2 arrives first, in the first quarter of 2027.
